In the Bible, the teacher stated that “money does all things” (Ecclesiastes 10:19. “A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.” King James Version (KJV)). Probably because Ghanaians have come to understand that the “love of money is the root of all evil”, they have resorted to “IN ALL THINGS, POLITICS DECIDE”.
I got some beads made into a bangle from some siblings and decided to wear them. Never had any problem with people because they were all black. The beads got broken when I was trying to kill a fly. In fixing it, I had to replace some of the beads myself since I lost few of the previous and original one. I had no option than to fall on the colours that were already available at home. That’s where my trouble started because of what I unintentionally came up with.
It started with my wife and then the many people that saw me wear the beads when I didn’t heed to the advise of the woman of the house.
It reminded me of when the protocol of Ex-President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills of blessed memory refused to use an umbrella from the colours of the University of Education, Winneba when it was raining heavily during an inauguration of their assembly hall on the Kumasi campus. They preferred for the President to be “whipped” by the rain to being covered under the umbrella of colours very similar to those of the then opposition party. Politics decide!
I lost the battle of explaining to people how I came up with the colours of my beads and had no political intentions. I finally rearranged the beads and I don’t know what next people might be thinking when they see me.
politics has been deciding on most things and now even what we wear on daily basis. Ghana must rise above such for it destroys a nation.
