The director and management of Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) honoured and named the Administration Block after Professor Betty Kirkwood on 9th March 2022. In the ceremony at the KHRC Conference Room which was also hosted virtually to enable the renowned Professor, her friends, family, Collaborations and other associates to attend, Betty Kirkwood expressed her profound joy to the gesture by KHRC.
To the Professor of Epidemiology and International Health, the act by the institution epitomises the recognition of her contributions to health research in Ghana and Africa.
The day which coincided with the anniversary for the passing of the first director of KHRC; Dr Paul Arthur, a close friend of Professor Betty Kirkwood, was used to recount some of the projects Prof Betty was involved in and the impact and successes that were achieved.
