Majority Leader of the 8th Parliament of Ghana,  Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has alleged the  Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin demanded for an amount of GH₵1.72 billion, before allowing the 2022 annual budget to be approved.

He said, on the day of the budget presentation by the finance minister Jen Ofori-Atta, the Speaker of Parliament in a leadership meeting together with the finance minister, openly demanded that GH₵1.72 billion, be allocated in the 2022 budget to Parliament.

Kyei Mensah-Bonsu further noted, the Speaker threatened to have the budget rejected, ” just as the father of Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta engineered for Dr. Hila Liman’s budget to  be rejected.

Mr. Kyei Mensah Bonsu further urged Ghanaians to disregard an information suggesting he  the Speaker,  Alban Bagbin to leave Parliament and go home, on Monday  December 20,2021 b when the House was about to vote on voting on the passage of the  E-LEVY Bill, under a certificate of urgency.

The voting however turned chaotic when the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Wise vacated his seat so he can be counted as a member of Parliament.
