The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana as part of his working tour in the Bono East, on Tuesday 8th February visited the Kintampo Health Research Centre. The other places he visited were the College of Health and Well-being, and tourist sites (The Fuller and Kintampo Water Falls).
The focus of the visit as presented by Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. KWASI adu-Gyan including various heads of institutions was to show the potentials in the region in the area of tourism, education, health and research to the Indian Government.
The High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. Sugandh Rajaram, with the Regional Minister toured the Data and IT center of KHRC and the Seth Owusu-Agyei Medical Laboratory (SOAML). The Computer Center exhibited their capacity to support data collection in the field using robust systems including real time remote data entry technologies.
The SOAML equally during the tour showed the capacity of the parasitology unit which is currently preparing Malaria Microscopy slides to replenish the National Archive of Malaria Slides for training, and the molecular biology unit which is involved in carrying out Covid-19 testing the region. The director further mentioned to the High Commissioner that the Centre welcomes any collaboration and affiliation that could establish an Infectious disease laboratory to support future outbreaks.
It is the hope that the visit will yield the fruits of seeing a University in the Bono East Region riding on the technological resources which is the hallmark of India.
