Because the animals are living in their natural habitat and the core mandate of the commission is not tourism, embarking on a journey to see animals is always a game of chance. Animals that you will see will depend on the chance that you will meet them while moving within the almost 4500 sq Km park and even depending on the time. Are you interested in nocturnal or animals that are active during the day? This should guide your decision to choose when to visit the park. A ride for 2 hours I was told could enable you to cover not up to 1% of the total distance in the park. This should tell you the chances available to visitors to see any animal that is even abundant is small let alone for those that might be endangered.
\nWith a guard on our bus after paying for 2-hour ride per person around 10:15 am, we spotted two elephants about 15mins into our ride. The guard on whose instruction everyone moved and even \u201cbreathed\u201d asked us to stop and get off the bus to view closer to the animals’ position. We were allowed to stay about 50 meters away from the animal to view and take pictures without disturbing them as they enjoyed their movement. The scene was awesome and very different from what one sees in a documentary. The \u201cshit\u201d (faeces) from the elephant as we saw on the ground, if not exaggerating, will be weighing nothing less than 7kg-15kg.
