Listen to what Professor Edwin Afari had to say about his mentee who through the mill has become a full professor appointed as Director of Institute of Health Research (IHR) at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). It was his maiden inaugural lecture and actually the first in UHAS.<\/p>\n

He said, Prof. Seth Owusu-Agyei as early as I met him was found to be hardworking, very intelligent and was willing to learn. It motivated me to help him on outreach centres in various areas on malaria and the drugs used to treat them at that time. He worked very hard through Navrongo to Kintampo where he had stayed with malaria research and even with vaccine trials to now help in getting a vaccine for use in children. Very proud of him.
\nOn how Prof Owusu-Agyei was able to overcome the challenges researchers in Ghana face, he said he was able to attract funding to overcome the scarcity of funding in the country. He wrote proposals that could attract international funding.<\/p>\n

It is on this that research fellows are advised to write proposals in getting funding for the work they want to do. I am very proud of him that from a humble beginning, he has been able to work so hard. He has proven that if you set your mind to do something and follow that with hardworking, you can achieve it.
\nHis contribution in getting the malaria vaccine and answers he has obtained to the challenges the malaria control programme face is notable.<\/p>\n
