During the Christmas season, I had the opportunity to visit one of the Forts in Ghana. As the tour guard took us around, one thing\u00a0that shocked me and I have never heard in all the slave trade stories was the fact that people from the community surrounding the Fort used the canoes to help carry the slaves from the seashore at the exit of the Fort (Gate of No Return) to the vessels that came to collect the merchantries.<\/p>\n
I could not imagine fellow human beings transporting others that had been blindfolded and tied with chains all in the name of doing business for money. I could not bring myself to the brink of asking for forgiveness for such people. I saw such people as very different from those who actually went to sell their relatives to the slave masters for hats, mirrors and gunpowder. From the stories said in the various Castles and Forts i have visited, those who sold their relatives in exchange for goods never knew their people were sent out as slaves.<\/p>\n
How wicked can we be? How selfish can we be to the extent of playing a role in the transport of fellow human beings who were blindfolded and chained?<\/p>\n
Anytime you are about complaining, simply look into yourself if you have not played any role of why a system failed.<\/p>\n
