We are always in a dilemma whenever we have to make decisions. Before we take a step into any venture, we are faced with the fear of the unknown. What will happen? How will it turn out? These are some of the questions we ask ourselves before making the move. This is so because no formula has been found to be error-proof in making choices. The best so far as I have come to know is making choices based on principles backed by faith in the word of God that “it shall come to pass at the appointed time”. This cuts across corporate leadership, management, social and economic decisions. No matter how knowledgeable you are, it is faith that will make you move. Hebrews 11:1 explains it very well.
\nEleven (11) years ago, I decided to take Portia Amoah as a comparable helper. It was a choice that was influenced by several factors to be described in another write-up. On the morning I was travelling with my family to go through the marriage ceremony, I could not identify my wife\u2019s home. I had to be redirected using the phone. Some would have said that was enough for you to know that the marriage was not meant to be. But you know what, I was certain of the woman I had found as a wife with the few she exposed me to. Every confidence I needed as a man to enter into marriage, she revealed it from\u00a0within me. All the fears I had could confront me in life and in marriage were alleviated when I met Portia and we interacted. The confidence I had never meant the absence of feeling uncertain. I knew she was an embodiment to help make me complete the social contract one enters called marriage. We had shortcomings as individuals who decided to come together, but largely, the perfection with which I saw we could achieve more outweighed the negatives. On that scale and also with the knowledge of “if Christ comes into the boat”, I knew we shall excel – I made the choice to stay with Portia.
\nAnytime I get the opportunity to assess our stay, I arrive with positive results of many reasons why I have to continue with the union I have had over the past eleven years. Whew!!!!
\nOver those years, if there is anything I would want to change or wish could happen is for the clock hand to turn for me to be the one that would bear the pain of labour for the three children and some of the changes associated with that phase of womanhood, the pain of covering my weaknesses, the pain of the effort to always get me closer to God our maker, the pain of always prompting us to pray before we leave the house each day, the pain of getting the children to start learning basic things for life, the pain of getting the children to learn how to read and write, and many more. Anytime I was left with the kids and they never knew how to clean themselves after attending \u201cnatures calls\u201d, cleaning them up always reminded me of what you have been going through.
\nI never chose my wife out of pity but truthfully as has been described earlier. If I am to make the choice again, I will still not hesitate to do it over and over. Anytime, I had said, I love her never meant, I have never hurt her before or she has not hurt me before. Knowing that I love you has always made me question if love means the absence of hatred, unfaithfulness, pain, tears, hardship, laziness, provision, no as an answer, etc? One thing I am learning through it all is that piecing all I have mentioned and those I have not mentioned;\u00a0to be able to stay together for eleven years without breaking up when even there have been instances we could have justified divorce in our own rights, make me know that LOVE is never exhaustive in definition.
\nYour choice for me was a clear proof that money was not your focus even though I will keep trusting God that I will be able to get some adequately for our home and future. The beauty of the choice I made is also the fact that you have the ability to make money to save situations. It is my desire that just as how we started, may the GRACE (ADOM) we obtained through FAITH (GYIDIE) continue to BLESS (NHYIRA) us in the remaining days of our life.
