A proposal from Ghana was selected together with two from Kenya and Malawi out of 20 applications that were received.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Vital to the selection criteria, were strong malaria control programme, Insecticide Treated Nets distribution and use, Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) programmes and strong Expanded Programme for Immunization (EPI). With these strong programmes in place, the great scientists had a good platform to sell their scientific\u00a0ideas for selection to enable them to evaluate the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Not only the negatives must be condemned, I think in this regard, all the key stakeholders should be commended and request them to improve in the more room that is available\u00a0to them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Despite these gains, malaria still remains a problem in Ghana and the vaccine could help reduce the effect of the malaria menace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Thank you, WHO for the trust in Ghana among others to be able to carry out the implementation study.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At a meeting to discuss malaria and the gains made in Dakar, Senegal on 19th April 2018, the WHO indicated that strong programmes in Ghana played a key role in the selection of Ghana as a Country to aid in the implementation of the first malaria vaccine in the world.
