Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS) declared strike due to the lack of will and direction by those at the helm of affairs to give in to three things requested to institute quality laboratory service delivery in Ghana. The three are 1. Need for Medical Laboratory Directorate, 2. Dedicated Medical Laboratory Account to finance the laboratories and 3. to resolve matters surrounding the irregularities in their placement on the Single Spine Salary Structure.<\/p>\n

Instead of some hospital managers trying to contribute to resolving the issues speedily, they have rather resorted to threats and abuse of the law.<\/p>\n

I am not surprised because they are exhibiting exactly what we have been perceived to be as a nation. The rule of MEN and POWER but NEVER the RULE of LAW.<\/p>\n

ACT 857, PART 1 tells who can work in the laboratories in Ghana. But unqualified people have been asked to work during the strike and the managers do not care whatever laws they flout.<\/p>\n

Every criminal ACT must be described as such and not watered down because of who is involved.<\/p>\n

I like the boldness depicted in the attached letter and the medical superintendent must be applauded. I guess he has not gone against any law. If he has koraaaaaaaa, no one dares confront him. He is saving life abi?<\/p>\n
