{"id":2049,"date":"2020-09-01T19:52:53","date_gmt":"2020-09-01T19:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adugyasidennis.com\/?p=2049"},"modified":"2020-09-01T22:02:23","modified_gmt":"2020-09-01T22:02:23","slug":"does-the-tax-collector-considers-the-safety-of-consumers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adugyasidennis.com\/index.php\/2020\/09\/01\/does-the-tax-collector-considers-the-safety-of-consumers\/","title":{"rendered":"Does the tax collector considers the safety of consumers?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has introduced\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gra.gov.gh\/gra-introduces-ghana-tax-stamp-authenticator\/\">tax stamp affixed to specified excisable products to enable consumers to know which products are genuine to buy<\/a>.\u00a0 This is to enable the public to complement the efforts of the public to improve on tax paid to the government through the GRA.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the specified excisable products that must have excise tax stamp affixed to are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>Mineral water;<\/li>\n<li>Bottled and other packaged water excluding sachet water;<\/li>\n<li>Carbonated soft drinks;<\/li>\n<li>Malt drink;<\/li>\n<li>Stout;<\/li>\n<li>Beer, including cider beer, whether bottled canned or packaged in any form;<\/li>\n<li>Wines, including sparkling wine;<\/li>\n<li>Spirits;<\/li>\n<li>Cigarettes and other tobacco products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As much as it is important to improve on revenue collection, the tax collector should not lose sight of the fact that the wholesomeness of the products they affix the tax stamps should remain intact for consumers.<\/p>\n<p>It has been observed for some time now and particularly with canned soft drinks, the location of the tax stamps needs to be looked at again. What is the essence of placing it at the very spot that will be used to drink? It is almost always in the way of the drink. One needs to remove it to make way for consumption.<\/p>\n<p>Is there no other place on the can for the stamp to be fixed than where it is indicated in the picture?
