{"id":2191,"date":"2020-10-10T14:34:20","date_gmt":"2020-10-10T14:34:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adugyasidennis.com\/?p=2191"},"modified":"2020-10-10T14:34:20","modified_gmt":"2020-10-10T14:34:20","slug":"crispr-a-new-technique-used-for-repairing-genes-in-human-embryos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adugyasidennis.com\/index.php\/2020\/10\/10\/crispr-a-new-technique-used-for-repairing-genes-in-human-embryos\/","title":{"rendered":"CRISPR: A new technique used for repairing genes in human embryos &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A new technique used for repairing genes in human embryos that prevent inherited diseases<br \/>\nNew technique uses a gene-editing tool to correct a disease-causing gene mutation in human embryos and stop it from passing to future generations<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">CRISPR, which stands for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats, holds promise for correcting mutations in the human genome to prevent genetic disease.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Using an enzyme called Cas9, it\u2019s possible to snip a specific target sequence on a mutant gene.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0The new study found that human embryos effectively repair these breaks in the mutant gene using the normal copy of this gene from a second parent as a template.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The resulting embryos contain now repaired, mutation-free copies of this gene.
