The Kintampo Area Youth Ministry as part of the National Youth Musical contest has held its contest at the Area level. The event took place on Sunday, 11th April 2021. Four (4) choirs represented namely; The Worshippers (Sawaba District), Kintampo Newtown Youth Choir, The Formidable Choir (Kyeremankuma), and the Calvary Lightning Singers (Bamboi). The judges were Ovr. Fred Stephen Safo (Asantekwa ) Ovr Prince Augustine and Mrs. Barbara Ababio (Jema Nkwanta).<\/p>\n

In the end, Kintampo Newtown Youth Choir emerged the Overall winner with 85%, with The Worshippers (Sawaba) coming second with 84%. The Calvary Lightning singers (Bamboi) won the third (3rd) position with 80% and The Formidable Choir of Kyeremankoma won the fourth (4th) position with 79%.<\/p>\n

Overseer Samuel Addae, the Area Youth leader in his opening address mentioned that the purpose of the contest was to unleash youth people into the various fields of church work and also to help unearth and develop new talents of singers in the church. He added that music is a great influencer in our lives and a very powerful tool for communication among young people. \u201cThe music you consciously listen to, impact your life in one way or the other. Hence the need to channel the energies of young people into singing and dancing to the right kind of music that will impact their lives positively\u201d, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

The contestants were given six (6) to seven (7) minutes to minister in songs. Areas of assessment included adherence to COVID-19 protocol, dress code, length of song, style, originality, diction, and clarity as well as the size of choir members and relevance of the song.<\/p>\n

In attendance also were the Area Youth Executive Committee members and some music-loving members who danced to the beautiful Pentecost tunes.<\/p>\n
