The minority has responded to Ashantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s call on Parliament not to obstruct Government business.<\/p>\n
Speaking at at the launch of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Commemorative Gold Coin ceremony on Sunday, December 12, 2021; he also noted that the Members of Parliament (MPs), who are the representatives of Ghanaians are there to ensure equilibrium in what government does.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe elect people to represent us to make sure there is some equilibrium in what governments do. It is to our good that our representatives in Parliament subject the national budget to the most rigorous scrutiny and to call for changes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Otumfuo, in his address also had this to say to government.<\/p>\n
\u201cGovernment must also have the humility to acknowledge and embrace the useful inputs from all sources, but our representatives need to bear in mind that it is not their role to either determine policy or to frustrate the executive from performing their legitimate duties.\u201d<\/p>\n
But responding on behalf of the Minority in parliament, the Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak Mohamed noted, they are not there to slow government activities but rather ensure due process is followed.<\/p>\n
“It is our responsibility;\u00a0 representing the people, to do what is right”, Mutantaka Mubarak noted when he addressed the press at parliament today.<\/p>\n
