The Ranking Member on the Finance Committee of Parliament who doubles as MP for Ejumako Enyan Asiam, Cassiel Ato Forson has said, he never issued or authorized for payment for Two Million Three Hundred and Seventy Thousand Euros (\u20ac2,370.00 Euros) for the purchase of ambulances in 2014 when he was the Finance Minister.<\/p>\n
According to him, he only issued a letter of Credit in is capacity as a Deputy Finance Minister, but it was issued under\u00a0the instructions of the then Substantive Minister , Mr. Seth Tekper.<\/p>\n
Mr. Ato Forson made these remarks at a press briefing in Parliament today,\u00a0 in response to a letter he received from the office of the Attorney general and Minister for Justice;\u00a0 requesting for a charge statement from him.<\/p>\n
He is to also to prepare for formal charges which has been filed against him and to appear before the law court for defence and explanations on the contract he signed for the purchase of 200 ambulances to be used by the Ghana Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n
In 2014 to 2016, during the John Dramani Mahama led administration, government purchased some ambulance that were not up to standard.<\/p>\n
The Two Hundred (200), ambulance that were delivered by the contracting company were totally empty as they did not contain equipments for use by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics, in emergency situations.<\/p>\n
Ghana incur a $2.4 million loss when it was\u00a0 discovered the vehicles were unfit for the purpose after it was received from the manufacturers.<\/p>\n
Mr. Forson further added that, the decision of the Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Dame to harass him with series of court issues, is just a political witch hunting and that can never silence him on the E-LEVY Bill and matter arising.<\/p>\n
