I was privileged to listen to the woman of God who has an exceptional demonstration of faith in God through her Christian life. She was a Catholic who got married to someone who was called into ministry in the Church of Pentecost as a Pastor. Mrs. Vicentia Mensah Adrakpanya is the name.

She has been known to exhibit the leadings of God in her life and that of many others. Miracles that God performed through her are all manifestations of “God with us doing wonders”. Maa Vicentia has survived six (6) major surgeries, paralysis, severe sepsis, severe migraine, and others. From instant healing administered through her prayers to the healing of kidney conditions and blessing couples with the fruit of the womb, it is clear God is with her.

When asked what was her secret, she said “fasting and prayer are my delicacies”. She fasts and prays about two to three times each year. The duration of each of the fasting periods is forty days. She mostly does this from the beginning, mid-year, and ending of the year under the leading of the Holy Spirit. Interspersed between this yearly routine, could be three to twenty-one days of fasting and prayers without food. What will be popularly classified as “dry fasting”. she gets to know the prompts of the Holy Spirit to fast and pray by the prick of her conscience and discomfort when eating.  The act of fasting and praying for such long periods did not start easy but came over a period of practice and being obedient to the Holy Spirit.

This is a practice that has become part of her routine life even from her childhood. She recalls when all the time she gave her pocket money to her mother and went to school without food till she returned. Apparently, those were training periods for her fasting life as the Holy Spirit reminded her of one of the days. She recounts when she started one of the forty-days fastings after she was discharged from the hospital for major surgery. She does not have ulcers of any part of the gut as many would want to believe that fasting promotes ulcers.

It was evident that some things could only be done with prayers and fasting as Jesus Christ said. And it is not surprising that Maa Vicentia is clothed with faith and miracles in her Christian life and as a Pastor’s wife.
