In 2009, I had the opportunity to travel to the USA to attend an International Conference on a travel grant. On the day before my travel, while in a bus to the capital to catch my flight, my spiritual father Rev. Isaac Kankam Boadu of Grace Community called his brother in Chicago to host me for the week stay.
Someone I had never met before devoted his time and resources to me from the very moment he picked me waiting in front of his flat till I traveled out of the USA. The love Mr. Ebenezer Antwi showed to make sure I enjoyed every bit of the stay in Chicago was enormous. I needed to open a bank account and at that time it was only Associated Bank that allowed non-residents to own savings account in the USA. He drove me to Waukegan, almost 2 hours from our home, to a branch where I could transact.
I could not understand why this very dawn, the thoughts of scenes from when we met and he carried my bag to his flat was dawned on me. Surprisingly, this morning too before I left the house to the office, I saw my first receipt after I paid in some money into my account with Associated Bank.
This morning at 06:40am, Rev. Isaac Kankam Boadu called me. I was expecting him to talk to me about a programme done in honour of his 27 years in leading the flock of Christ. Unfortunately, he broke the news of the death of the eye-opener I got on my first trip to the States. Apparently, he died on the 4th of October, my birthday, without me knowing.
May your gentle soul and respect for all REST IN PERFECT PEACE. I pray you were able to forgive all who you lamented caused you pain despite the great help and support you gave them. Please, remember that the digital sewing machine we bought brought much love to my home.
