They always told the girl that they prefer her to carry the food while they purchase than bringing it them on the veranda since they knew one was for five cedis.
The boys usually ate more than what the paid the girl and she was always running at a loss.
Back in the dormitory, he never liked the food prepared by the women in the school’s kitchen. So he always went to the bush for foodstuffs for themselves. They had no place to cook, except in the steel bucket and they did that in the bush.
Most of the farmers around the school’s compound reported about their missing foodstuffs every day. The farmers were sure those stolen crops were not harvested to their various homes. They usually consoled themselves with the adage “every day for the thief man, one day for the owner”.
These words became true, when a farmer apprehended Alooso and others, this time excluding Ololo. The only alternative they had was to hurt the farmer and run away, if not they would be dismissed when the issue got to the Headmaster. Alooso seriously slapped the man who later lost guard of the boy he was holding. They took to their heels and later shaved the boy who would be recognized by the farmer if it became possible for identification.
The man reported the issue to the school’s authorities and the students were ceased from going out after the morning session of their church activities the next day.
Everybody was to come through one exit facing the farmer to enable him to pick out the odd one among the students. A student population of five hundred passed and none was picked as the probable one. Alooso and his friends thanked their stars for the numerous help. Other students knew the culprits but never gave them up. The man has to go and be more tactical in apprehending criminals.
Ololo followed the pacesetters till he graduated into killing the poultry of the masters for his so-called special meals. This came to the notice of some of the masters. Abijoe who was the maths master went and warned the students, that anybody caught in that act will be punished severely.
