The President of Senegal, at the opening ceremony of MIM 2018 received an award from Joy Phumaphi, the Executive Secretary of the African Leadership Malaria Alliance (ALMA). The country was honoured with the 2018 Award of Excellence in Malaria Control. She presented the award to the President of Senegal. The words on the award said, “zero malaria starts with each of us”. This referred to the Senegal campaign “zero malaria starts with me”.
