Ololo never gave the dismissal letter to his parents. He stayed with his friend as a day-student while his parents looked after him as a boarder.
Things grew worse when Ololo became a day-student. He bought fake money with his school fees from people who pretended to be money doublers. He left extravagant life in the Sunyani town with the fake money he acquired.
One day, he went to a nearby town and spent some of the fake money, he was not lucky this time and was caught. He was asked to pay about five times the amount spent if not he will be sent to the police station. Ololo had to pay this amount because he wanted to keep the case secret.
There wasn’t a single day that students never reported of missing items. The students in his class and other classes reported on a certain day that their pamphlets and other notebooks were stolen. Where do they search for them? They were fortunate to get a report that somebody was selling textbooks and other materials at a school at a very moderate price. The school’s Prefect went and check and behold it was Ololo who stole the books.
The case was brought to the Rector, it was this time that the parents were notified of the behavior of their ward. The problem they had was where Ololo would stay and continue his schooling since he had a few months to write his final exams.
Mr. Oslim an uncle to Ololo came to mind and he didn’t also hesitate to stay with Ololo to continue his education.
Ololo changed and attended school as a day student. He did this for a while but that was to please his uncle in order not for him to regret accepting him.
Ololo would leave the house alright under the pretense of going to school but he would divert his ways to other places instead of the school. The spirit of truancy was full in Ololo’s heart.
It would have been the greatest joy of the family if somebody could organise a crusade to purge Ololo’s heart against truancy.
