We are admonished to know how to number our days while we are around for no one will live forever on earth. The Psalmist in Ps 90:10 (KJV) makes it clearer with “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow;…”.

I have known Mr. P. Y. Kodom for more than 5 years now in Kintampo. He is one expert I have known with a great passion for his job. He will usually walk a distance of  2 kilometers from his home daily to go and attend to his business as a landscape architect.

I happen to leave around his area of residence and on some occasions have been blessed to offer him a lift as early as 4:30 am on a few occasions I have to go to work early. The man is always seen walking to and from his errands. I was shocked when in a conversation, he mentioned his age. He was born on 2nd June 1927 as he said. Who am I to argue.

Flanked by Mr. Kodom for a portion of his blessings to prosper in health even in old age.

He is a retired horticulturist from previous conversations and used to work for the parks and gardens. He appears to know a lot about landscaping and choosing the right kind of plant for any occasion and purpose. I will never forget his advise on a search for reptiles repelling plants to cultivate at home. His choice of the lemongrass and how to get it to grow in my area was God-sent.

I was approached today by Mr. P. Y. Kodom that he will be bowing out in managing the landscape of the usual place I know him to be working as his family has requested. I thought I needed to take the opportunity to be in a picture with this blessed man and if perhaps his blessings of old-age will also become my portion.

I wish you well as you move on and may your dreams of raising flowers to carry out your hobby never be cut short till you make God proud. Your interest in the things of God as a Methodist in the Men’s Fellowship is inspiring. God bless you Sir.
