The drugs of the patients were kept in between their beds in their drawers. When the nurse on the evening shift showed up, she served the drugs to the patients that were handed over to her. Not too long after, the patient started producing “coca-cola” urine. The whitish part of the patient’s eyes was turning yellowish. The drastic change could not be understood since it happened overnight.
It was later found that the patient had a deficiency with a G6PD enzyme and such people are not advised to take certain drugs. When given such drugs, the patient starts haemolysing. That was exactly what happened to the patient and had it not been identified earlier, the patient could have passed.
What would you have done if you were in the shoes of the patient and the relatives? Are there some remedies you could seek?
