It was just a call to ask who can go and take an award in Kumasi for the Northern Sector of the MTN 2020 MoMo Award at the Golden Tulip Hotel.
What we did not know was that it was to receive a certificate and a smart mobile phone for outstanding service to MTN MoMo customers using a registered Merchant line.
The family has a registered waste management company and got a Merchant sim card to allow customers to pay for services rendered to them by JAFPAD Cleaning Agency at the end of every month. JAFPAD is the first letters in the names of everyone in the family registered in 2005 after graduating from the University. Each person in the family is considered even before the family started.
It eventually became one of the active lines during the COVID-19 era and now, used by customers who patronize the local restaurant operated by Nana Hemaa and Portia Amoah to pay for the food they buy.
MTN identified the services offered using the merchant line and picked JAFPAD to receive the award for both Kintampo North and South in the middle-belt of Ghana.
The truth of the matter is that the award was timely and the phone saved the family the cost of buying a new phone already destroyed by the grandkids.
