As 2021, comes to an end, the Ghana Police Service (GPS), has cautioned religious leaders against doom Prophecies.
A portion of a statement released by the service on Monday December 27,2021, reads; “We therefore wish to caution all Ghanaians, especially religious groups and leaders to be measured in their utterances, especially how they communicate prophecies, which may inure the right of others and the public interest,”.
The caution comes on the back of religious leaders giving prophetic words which are mostly doom in nature on 31st night at their various churches or place of worship, leaving the people who the prophecy is about in few and mostly panicked.
In the statement, it also cautioned persons who will publish the doom Prophecies, as they can be held liable for publication.
“We want to caution that under Ghanaian law, it is a crime for a person to publish or reproduce a statement, rumour or report which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb the public peace, where that person has no evidence to prove the statement, rumour or report is true.”
