Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Affufo Dampare has donated ten speed ramp ropes to facilitate the construction of speed ramps along the road infront of the Abrepo Islamic Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti region.
“All those we have gone to see are doing well”, he noted.
The cost of the rope will be fully funded by the IGP.
In his speech when he meet students and teachers of the school, Dr. Dampare said he is glad each of the students are doing well despite the unfortunate incident that happened in the early hours of June 13, 2020.
The police dispersed angry students of the Islamic SHS, with tear gas and firing of shots; when the students block the road infront of the school in protest of frequent vehicular knock downs of students and other pedestrians.
Over twenty students were rushed to the hospital for treatment when they collapsed due to tears and stampede.
According to the Headmaster of the Abrepo Islamic SHS, Suleman Yeboah the Ghana Highway Authorities has promised to finish the construction of the road speed ramps in two weeks. “We will forever be grateful to the IGP for donating from his pocket ten ropes for them to put on the road tomorrow”.
Meanwhile, the Administrator of the Suntreso Government Hospital, Alex Bugareh says twenty – two (22), students who were rushed to the hospital are doing well and only one who had an injury on his head, has been referred to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
