From the night of 25th December to the dawn of 26th DEC 2018, this dog would not allow us to sleep with the intensed expression of its desire to cross my bitch.
I had to even wake from sleep and shout for them to calm down.
All along, the thinking was a male dog on heat trying to get at a bitch till my wife woke me from sleep in the morning to come and see the behaviour of the dog. The dog that followed our dogs into their cage exhibited every sign of a rabid dog.
We called the veterinary officer and reported the case especially when we did not know the rabies vaccination status and also the owner. The best advise was to kill the dog if we cannot keep it for about 10 days to observe for the symptoms of rabies infection.
We were to get in touch with the unit committee leaders since the Assembly man does not live within the community.
What saved the dog was a little boy who finally identified the owner. We called them in and later risked their lifes by taking the dog away from our cage.
If the dog was not infected with rabies but the libido was making it exhibit the rabid symptoms, then we have lessons to learn than to allow our sexual desires drive us to the grave.
We should take cue and make sure to?control it no matter how difficult it will be.
